“My freshmen year during Springfest, I got to perform with my band, PB&JAM” Khun Htrue Maung ’19 recalled. This was a nerve wracking experience for Maung, as he talked about how he has never played on that large of a stage with that many people. He stated that he made many memories. Maung was able to play with his band because he won the talent show that year.
This year’s Springfest will happen on Saturday, April 28. Activities for the day will include: KaPOW, Hungry Hippo Bungee, Stuff a Wizard, Caricaturist, Airbrush Tattoo, Photo Booth and Wacky Trikes. As for musicians, there will be Stephen Neal, BrotherBrother, Krigare, and Whosah!
Many students are excited for Springfest because of the various musicians and activities there that everyone can enjoy.
Jessica Reyes, ’20, stated that her favorite memory from Springfest was that, “The whole day was basically filled with excitement. I liked how people got really pumped and there were so many activities.”
This year’s theme for Springfest is Indie. The artists were picked because of how their music suited the theme. With the exception of Stephen Neal, he is actually a country artist from Nashville. BrotherBrother is a returning act, they are two brothers, Bradley and Brett Anderson, who are originally from Florida. Krigare who is a music artist who basically grew up in the business. Her latest album, “KRIGARÈ,” talks about her struggles as she was diagnosed with cancer. She too is from Nashville. Last, there is Whosah which is a band consisting of four men from Minnesota.
Maung ‘19, looks forward to seeing Whosah! because he saw them in concert previously.
For this year’s Springfest, there will be two inflatable features, the KaPow and Hungry Hippo Bungee. Stuff a Wizard is where you can create any stuff toy based off of the Harry Potter’s house, such as a snake, a lion, or a badger. The Wacky Trikes are miniature three wheeler bicycles. There will be returning activities like the Airbrush Tattoo and Photo Booth.
The airbrush tattoo was Megan Rupnick’s, ’20, favorite event from last year’s Springfest.
Ripon Live and the Student Activities Office work together to plan for Springfest. During this time, student organizations and greek life will be tabling. The organizations who will have a table are Theta Sigma Tau, Alpha Delta Pi, Psi Chi, La Unida and WRPN.
Daisy Aguilera, ’20, stated that, “I remember my favorite thing about Springfest was all the student organizations tabling during the day.”
Springfest activities will be located in front of the Memorial Lawn from 12 pm to 4pm. The artists will perform later in the night around 6:30 pm or 7 pm in the Memorial Lawn.
